The Willamette United Football Club is proud to announce that Joseph Friedman and Bryce Kelly are the recipients of the 2022 Willamette United Rodger Hepburn College Scholarship. We are incredibly proud to call these two amazing players members of our organization. Congratulations and good luck with the next phase of your lives!
Joseph Friedman, a Wilsonville Senior, graduates with a decorated soccer career and a GPA of 4.47. On the field Joseph was a defensive anchor for the Wilsonville men’s high school team as a center back which helped the team to have a successful year in the Northwest Oregon Conference (NWOC). Joseph was selected as the 2021 League Player of The Year for the NWOC and an OSAA First Team selection as a center back. Winning such an award as a defender is quite rare and speaks to the quality that Joseph displayed through his years of playing in the NWOC.
Bryce Kelly, a West Linn Senior, graduates with 4.43 GPA from West Linn High School and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. Bryce participated in Willamette United’s Coed Recreational Soccer program the past couple of seasons and competed with WUFC’s Classic Soccer program while growing up. Bryce has an extensive community service resume where he has volunteered to coordinate the production and delivery of PPE at the start of the COVID pandemic, while also volunteering his time at SOLVE events in West Linn where he has worked to improve community parks for the enjoyment of many local residents and at local food pantries.
The goal of the Willamette United Football Club is to help nurture great people that just happen to play soccer. Joseph and Bryce exemplify the type of people we hope to help develop into responsible, civic-minded leaders who will contribute positively to their local and global communities. The scholarship committee would like to thank all of the amazing students that applied for the award and we wish them all the best of luck as they head to college.
We would like to thank Director’s Mortgage for being a sponsor of Willamette United! A portion of the Director’s Mortgage annual donation was used for this year’s Rodger Hepburn College Scholarship. Director’s Mortgage has made a generous donation every year for the last six years. These funds help cover our annual college scholarship as well as countless registration scholarships!
